Funkadelic – Maggot Brain

From the far funked out mind of George Clinton, Maggot Brain was Funkadelic’s third release, the final with the original line up and dropped in 1971.

Held in high esteem today, the album featured a range of styles encompassing funk, soul, gospel, psychedelia and rock, with Eddie Hazel’s guitar bleeding all over the title track  and Bernie Worrell’s vocal and organ wrangling on the mighty ‘Hit It and Quit It‘ it’s certainly one of my favourites (first purchased on tape from a Leeds indoor market stall if you must know).

Crazy sounds on the album, so it’s inevitable it would have a crazy cover. Still baffles me a bit.
