Leonard Cohen – I’m Your Man

I’m Your Man saw Leonard Cohen delve further into the synthesised music territory touched on with his previous Various Positions LP and was released in 1988. Leading off with the classic ‘First We Take Manhattan‘ the record features a raft of brilliant songs, ‘Everybody Knows’, ‘Tower of Song‘, ‘Take This Waltz‘ and the title track itself. Featuring contributions from Jennifer Warnes (who recorded the track First We Take Manhattan before this release on her own ‘Famous Blue Raincoat‘ collection of Cohen covers) and the pedal steel delights of Sneaky Pete Kleinow it ranks highly among critics and fans, including Tom Waits, who rates it as one of his favourites.

As ever this version of the cover is in felt pen, with Leonard eating a banana in what looks like some New York loft or warehouse.
