The second studio album from The Smiths, Meat Is Murder was the bands only number one album while they were together.
Morrissey and Marr released a more political album than before and their jangly sound had taken on a more adventurous tone. Subsequent reissues and re-releases have had How Soon Is Now tacked onto the record, but it’s only legitimate single, That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore didn’t even dent the top 40 on release, bigger things were ahead of the band, following it’s release in 1985.
